This course is ideal for those who wish to continue their learning and develop their skills as a practitioner.

Begins: 1st of every month
Requiements: Students need to have successfully completed the Think Dog! certificate ™
OCN accreditation - 12 credits at Level 2
Cost: £45 deposit plus £375

What you will learn:

  • Unit One: Behaviour, Cognition and Emotion. A fascinating look at the recognition and effects of canine emotion on behaviour and learning, examining body language as an expression of emotional states.
  • Unit Two: The Role of Reinforcement. Canine behaviour is dependent on rewards, but just how dogs view these will depend on their breed, previous history and their training. This Unit looks at how behavioural problems are affected by reinforcements and how they can be modified with care and skill.
  • Unit Three: Training methods. Training attitudes and methods have been transformed in the last decade: they are an integral part of good behavioural management and modification. This Unit examines what we can offer pet owners and how it can help change lives!
  • Unit Four: Common behaviour problems in dogs. This Unit looks at the most common behavioural and training issues presented by pet owners and examines possible causes, impact and the methods which experienced behaviour specialists employ to help resolve them
  • Unit Five: Case histories. Probably the most important way of gaining insight and experience, this Unit examines real-life behavioural cases demonstrating a range of issues and techniques to inform and inspire.
